About Us
We are more than 5000 Christians who live in central and southern Illinois and are members of 76 Presbyterian congregations connected with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). The Presbytery covers all or part of 46 counties in this region.
We hold beliefs that are central to the Christian faith – namely that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that, through Jesus Christ, salvation is offered to all persons. We believe that the Bible is God’s word to us, recording and conveying God’s acts in human history and giving instruction for care of and service to others.
We believe that the Church is where God’s people worship, learn, discern, serve, and are in fellowship together to serve the world. Presbyterians are characterized by a particular form of church organization – a presbytery – that is comprised of a number of particular church congregations, sites of mission and ministry across the region of the presbytery.
